Such a statement is justified, in part, by the recent new additions to the OTN standards that enable the switching of packets without ‘packet switching’. These include ODU0, ODUflex, and ODUflex with hitless re-resizing. Sembarc is building on our foundation of Telecoms Transport system knowledge and chip design experience to ensure that Sembarc’s OTN IP library addresses these ITU-T standards additions (and corresponding industry opportunities) efficiently and effectively.
![]() Sembarc will be providing our thoughts on these topics and more during IIR’s ‘WDM and Next Generation Optical Networking 2011‘ conference. Sembarc’s CEO, William Smith, will partake in an OTN panel session to be held on June 23rd (Day 3) in the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. As Heavy Reading states, there is a growing opportunity for packet-optical transport Intellectual Property providers as most carriers are expected to shift to packet-optical transport over the next five years. Sembarc recognises the importance our system-vendor customers place on time to market, ease of integration, and ‘carrier-class’ performance. As featured in the latest issue of Heavy Reading Components Insider, “Chip Makers Gear Up for Packet-Optical Deployments” Sembarc has shared details of its highly integrated ODU4 100-Gbit/s solutions to its key customers. Early Stage Investment is KeySembarc is poised for significant growth in 2010 and beyond building on a strong foundation both from a technical and investment perspective. Recently Sembarc’s Managing Director, William Smith, acknowledged that early stage investment is a key ingredient in the success of early-stage companies targeting global markets. He added: “Sembarc designs and delivers innovative Intellectual Property solutions to leading telecoms equipment manufacturers – the Halo funding has not only provided us with access to vital Angel investment – but also allowed the company to secure early-stage venture capital. This has given Sembarc the foundation to develop its leading-edge technology and to embrace the Global Telecoms market.” Pictured: (L-R) Halo Director, Alan Watts and William Smith, Managing Director of Sembarc, at the recent ‘Angels – Beacons of Hope’ exhibition at Victoria Square, Belfast. |
